KEY STATIONS These are the handsets on traditional key systems and contain the functionality of the system to allow anyone to handle incoming calls without a dedicated operator.
KEY SYSTEMS Key systems as opposed to PBX are essentially controlled from the handset and not the CPU. They have tended to be a cost efficient solution for smaller organisations which opt not to have a dedicated operator because all the functions can be carried out from any key station (above). With developments in PBX and particularly feature phones, however, the differences between these two options is becoming increasingly blurred. Careful consideration needs to be given to how you operate your business before you decide which option is most suitable.
KEYSYSTEM WORKING GROUP Terminals can be members of more than one group. Each terminal can have its own key and lamp layout. Unused keys are available for user definition. Keys and lamps can be configured to give access to incoming trunks.
KILOSTREAM KiloStream digital private circuits provide a full-time connection between two locations in all business areas of the UK.
KSU The Key Service Unit is the control unit for a key system very much like a CPU.
KSU-LESS SYSTEMS In KSU-less system all the functionality is contained within the handsets so there is no central KSU. KSU-less systems are only suitable for very small installations of two or three exchange lines.
